Anqing Yishang Association Elects New Leadership: What Foreign Founders Should Know

A government meeting in Anqing highlights the role of the Yishang Association in supporting local business. For foreign founders, this signals potential networking and support opportunities when operating in China.

Anqing Yishang Association Holds Second General Meeting

On the afternoon of October 28, the Yishang Association (宜商总会) held its second general meeting in Anqing. The event was attended by Zhang Junyi, Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, who delivered a speech. Li Junbo, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Federation of Industry and Commerce and Vice President and Secretary-General of the Huishang Association, also addressed the gathering. Other notable attendees included Xu Xiong, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Mayor; Zhou Dongming, Director of the Municipal People's Congress Standing Committee; Hua Jiahong, Chairman of the Municipal CPPCC; and Guan Jiatao, Member of the Municipal Party Committee Standing Committee and Secretary of the Political and Legal Affairs Commission. The meeting was presided over by Yang Lin, Vice Chairman of the Municipal CPPCC.

Key Messages from the Leadership

In his speech, Zhang Junyi congratulated the convening of the meeting and the newly elected members of the second council and supervisory board of the Yishang Association. He expressed gratitude to the vast number of Yishang entrepreneurs who have long cared for their hometown.

Zhang noted that over the past three years, the Yishang Association has started from scratch and, with a pioneering spirit, forged a path of association development with Anqing characteristics, achieving remarkable results. He emphasized that the change of leadership marks a new starting point. The association should continue to serve as a "liaison," "service provider," and "promoter," weaving a denser network, providing more solid services, and polishing the Yishang brand, striving to build a first-class association organization.

Zhang put forward four hopes for the Yishang entrepreneurs: to be dreamers with sentiment, supporting and speaking up for their hometown to jointly promote Anqing's high-quality development; to be visionary industrialists, maintaining strategic focus, improving internal strengths, seizing opportunities in transformation and upgrading, and gaining initiative through innovation; to be responsible pioneers, upholding the original aspiration of serving the country through industry, actively fulfilling social responsibilities, and setting a good image for Yishang in the new era; and to be reputable leaders, adhering to integrity, being modest and prudent, inheriting and promoting the entrepreneurial spirit, and becoming modern Confucian merchants respected by society and proud of their hometown.

Li Junbo stated in his address that the Yishang Association has become an important platform for uniting Yishang entrepreneurs worldwide and a significant force serving Anqing's high-quality development. On the new journey, he called for prioritizing political building, continuously enhancing the "Family Yishang" party building brand to ensure the correct direction of the association's development; smoothing channels for demands, precisely matching resources, and making good use of service carriers to deliver services to members' hearts; and actively integrating into the Huishang Association, guiding Yishang entrepreneurs to think and work together, jointly playing the "chess game" of Huishang coordination, and enabling global Huishang entrepreneurs to develop together and win-win in a common homeland.

New Leadership Elected

The meeting elected the second council and second supervisory board of the Yishang Association by a show of hands. Ding Aiguo was elected as the chairman of the second council and spoke at the meeting.

Implications for Foreign Founders

For foreign entrepreneurs looking to register or operate a company in China, developments like this highlight the importance of local business networks and government engagement. The Yishang Association serves as a platform for business connections and support. While the article does not specify direct services for foreign investors, such associations often facilitate networking, resource sharing, and dialogue with local authorities. Foreign founders may benefit from understanding these local dynamics when establishing their presence in Anqing or elsewhere in China.

When setting up a company in China, it's crucial to stay informed about local business environments and available support systems. Building relationships with local associations and understanding government priorities can aid in navigating the regulatory landscape and identifying opportunities.
